Use Your Words, You Have Them for a Reason
a little reminder - from your's truly
Read Time: depends how fast you read.
Hello! just to let you know - you are not a bum.
Today is short - here’s what we got:
🌱 Use your words - we have them for a reason.
In partnership with Speak with People
A friend of mine, Jason, is about to drop a new podcast series about how to become a better storyteller. He has a great podcast, check it out! “Learn from master storytellers, hone your skills, and craft unforgettable tales that captivate and inspire.”

🌱 Use your words
The past year has been absolute BANANAS 🍌🍌🍌
I left the corporate world, started a podcast, built a makeshift production studio, broke my first bone, published episodes with people who have won international TV competitions, won an Olympic Gold Medal, and performed on Broadway. I learned that my mom was dealing with aggressive cancer and I made several out-of-state trips to care for her, I built a soccer group that meets three times a week and has a positive culture, and I visited the Pacific Northwest for the first time.
But lately I’ve been feeling like I’ve been failing. I have moments where I feel aimless, unproductive, and disappointing. Initially I kept these thoughts to myself, but thankfully I’ve been able to share them with other people.
And guess what… things start to change as I wrap words around these thoughts and begin to share them.
It’s like the words are figuratively grabbing each finger of negative self-thinking and pulling it back from the grip it had on me. Just the act of voicing uncertainty to someone is cathartic.
My goal for myself is that I am capable of communicating my emotions and thoughts. I’ve been in places where I can’t communicate what I’m experiencing and it is a helpless feeling. Brene Brown compares this feeling to visiting the doctor’s office with a crippling pain yet not being able to tell the doctor about the pain.
My goal for you, as you read this, is that you are reminded or made aware of just how important it is to be able to communicate with those around you.
I’ll do my best to put together content that will help you communicate better with those around you. But, I want you to be interested in getting better.
Sorry I have been writing that often - I’ll hop back on the horse.
Talk to you next week 📝
