1ļøāƒ£ News: It Only Takes One!

This study that looked at 900 people is a great reminder of two things:

  1. We feel better when we have at least one meaningful conversation per day.

  2. Conversations donā€™t have to be long, they just have to happen. Donā€™t stress about duration, instead put the emphasis on consistency.

Itā€™s stuff like this that encourages me to call my friend, talk to a stranger, and check in with family members.

ā€œSmall moments of connection are so important for us as part of the human experience. Post-COVID, many of us still work from home and still have limited social contact. People have moved and changed. Lives are different. Finding places of connection are so important for mental health. Social connection and community have a large effect mitigating depression and anxiety.ā€

šŸ’” Communication is an intercultural experience

Communication is an intercultural experience.

Yesterday I was recording a podcast and we began to delve into the cultural nuances of communication.

For instance, where you grow up dictates new accents, phrases, pronunciations, verbal pacing, pitch, tone, and volume.

Thatā€™s a lot more that meets the eye than just having a different background.

That being said, be openminded when youā€™re communicating with people. We each have a unique story and we each have a unique communication style.
